Sandcastle Water Park - Blackpool

Sandcastle Waterpark is currently the largest indoor Waterpark in the UK. Incorporating main and terrace pool with 18 slides and attractions.

The Waterpark had an existing heat pump system which had reached the end of its useful life and was not capable of providing the correct ventilation and dehumidification capacity required.

ESG was asked to look at the existing ventilation equipment to provide a more economical system, both in terms of running and maintenance costs. The big challenge, as analysis showed, was the requirement for 50% more ventilation and twice as much dehumidification. All the new equipment had to fit into the existing plant room.

A new ventilation system consisting of 2 Air Handling Units and 2 Desiccant Dehumidifiers incorporating an ESG control system was proposed.

ESG removed the old heat pump system and successfully designed built and installed a new ventilation and dehumidification system which fitted into the existing plant space.

The ESG system was commissioned in June 2006. Maintenance Manager, Tony McNickle from Sandcastle Waterpark reports: “Conditions now are infinitely better than they have ever been before.”
