Gainsborough Leisure Pool

Built in the 1970’s Gainsborough is a conventional pool with a 25 metre main pool and learner pool.
The ventilation system was a 100% full fresh air system with a supply air handling unit with high level ductwork and separate wall mounted extract fans.

The pool had very high electricity costs and the air handling unit needed replacing, being nearly 30 years old.

ESG were asked to provide an economical replacement unit and to improve the air distribution.

The existing supply ductwork and grilles were satisfactory being able to provide the correct ventilation rate in accordance with today’s T.U.S recommendation.

However a recirculation system was required in order to improve efficiency and ESG replaced the existing unit with a new supply and extract air handling unit and gas fired dehumidifier.

Some builders work was required to get the old equipment and the new equipment into the plant room – ESG was responsible for the complete contract.

ESG installed new low level extract grilles and ductwork and a complete new control sytem.

The new ventilation system has been operating since 2002 and should reduce the clients operating costs by 50%
